How to Care for Vinyl

Technological advancements have made resilient flooring more resilient than ever, but that doesn't mean it's impervious to damage. Follow these tips to keep your resilient flooring looking beautiful for years to come:

  • Use mats at entryways to keep the amount of dirt tracked in down. Mats with rubber backings could damage your floor, so opt for mats without backings.
  • Wear slippers or socks on your resilient floor to keep the oils in your feet from damaging it.
  • Prevent gouges and scratches by putting furniture legs in hard plastic of felt protectors.
  • Vacuum regularly!
  • When mopping, use warm water either by itself or with a manufacturer-recommended cleaner. Whatever cleaner you use, make sure it washes away cleanly--some cleaners leave behind a residue that draws in dirt.
  • Spills should be wiped up immediately.
  • Tough, sticky stains should be cleaned with a non-abrasive scrubbing pad.
