How to Care for Area Rugs

  • Putting a rug pad under the rug will keep the rug from slipping and extend its longevity.
  •  No need to take it outside and smack it--simply vacuuming the rug will clean it much more thoroughly.
  • Spills should be cleaned immediately with clean cloth and mild dishwashing detergent. Apply the detergent, blot the stain away, rinse with water then blot it dry.
  • Rugs should be cleaned by a professional every two years.
  • Rugs should not be placed on top of carpets. Doing so will eventually destroy the carpet.
  • Rugs in direct sunlight should be turned every six months.
